Meet the Photographer

The majority of my OOTD posts are taken by a photographer by the name of Basil Sar. I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone today and show you an OOTD as well as introduce you to Basil!

This OOTD is different from the rest because it isn’t of just me, but Basil too. It’s an OOTD Plus One.

I met Basil when we were both on staff for the Spartan Daily newspaper. I was a reporter and he was a photographer. Now that I think back, I don’t even know if we even had any assignments together! As the time passed, he was still on staff when I became executive editor. That was when my OOTDs started. Honestly, the reason why I started was so I wouldn’t go insane. A former editor and friend told me I should find something that was mine and just mine. He said I should hold onto it, whatever it was, to keep sane throughout my editorship. I choose to do daily OOTDs, and I chose Basil to be my OOTD photographer.

b3Since we’d see each other daily in the newsroom, I made sure to take the time to remind him to take an OOTD photo for me. So how exactly did posing for photos keep me sane? The newsroom was ridiculously hectic every single day. If I didn’t find something that was completely mine and stick to it every day, I probably would’ve gone crazy. I didn’t read a book or meditate or take a walk or have a cup of tea; I chose to have photos taken. It was a good 5-10 minutes of my day where I’d focus on just getting photos taken and uploading them onto my Chictopia, Lookbook, Pose, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I’ve always wanted to start a fashion blog but I didn’t ever have the time. I thought if I stocked up on some OOTDs, I’d have a good starting point, and here I am now.

So as difficult as it was to not wear the same outfit throughout the year we did OOTDs, I was pretty good about taking photos almost daily. Without Basil’s help, I probably wouldn’t have all the OOTD photos I have now.

We’d always have a lot of fun whenever we went out to take OOTDs.
b2For most of you who don’t know, all my OOTDs were taken on my iPhone. I’m not joking. So my camera roll was filled up with a bunch of silly photos of Basil and I whenever we’d be goofing off while doing OOTD or in the newsroom. Let me show you a few…

If you didn’t already notice our height difference, yes, there is one:

This is just us being ridiculous in the newsroom:

So if you haven’t already, go check out Basil’s photography. And keep up with my blog for more OOTDs taken by this guy right here. Thanks, Basil! You’re the best! πŸ˜€
