I saw the movie, Into the Woods and loved it!
I knew basically nothing of what this movie was going to be about when I decided I wanted to watch it. I just knew there was singing involved and some great actors and actresses were going to be in it. So why not?
First, I’m so glad it was a musical. I love musicals! Second, I was surprised that there were so many story lines in one movie! Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, tied together with an iconic witch and a baker and his wife. Everyone in the story is searching for something and all the characters come together in an insane way. So I definitely say kudos to whoever wrote the story, because it was amazing!
I loved each story for different reasons:
-Cinderella was amazing because it has always been one of my favorite stories. I also loved Anna Kendrick’s acting and singing. I mean, can we just sing a song together, please? 🙂 Oh, and heyyyy, Prince Charming 😉
-Rapunzel was an interesting one. I like how the witch was involved in this story.
-Little Red Riding Hood made me laugh. Johnny Depp was fabulous. Just the right bit of creepy necessary for a big bad wolf.
-Jack and the Beanstalk was awesome. I loved the actor who played Jack. He was a great singer and actor! His mother was great as well!
-Meryl Streep is one of my all-time favorite actresses. I love her versatility and she played a witch fabulously!
-Last but not least, I’d have to say my favorite storyline would have to be the baker and his wife. It was a story I didn’t know compared to the rest of them and I really liked how I was truly invested in this story throughout the whole movie. Emily Blunt is awesome and I love her acting. Her singing surprised me too! The actor who played the baker, James Corden, was someone I don’t remember seeing in movies previously. But I did really enjoy his acting! Fabulous work!
The storyline was beyond amazing. The acting was great! I love Prince Charming + “The Other Prince” so much. Their duet was perfection. 😉 The music in this movie was fabulous. I absolutely loved all the songs.
I’d definitely recommend this movie if you’re into musicals and fairy tales. I’d listen to the soundtrack on repeat and buy this movie on DVD 😛
What are your thoughts of this movie?
I watched the original broadway musical after I watched the movie. I SO wish it happened the other way around! But I’d definitely recommend both! They are both amazing and I like them both for different reasons.
