Supergoop! Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40

I’m always looking for a new sunscreen to try, and I was super excited about the Supergoop! Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40.

I know, how can someone get excited about sunscreen, right?

Sunscreen has always been an issue for me. I hated wearing it as a kid because of how sticky, gross and smelly they were.

Once I got older and started purchasing my own sunscreen, I did more research and tried more brands.

This allowed me to figure out what works best for my skin and what doesn’t.

Trying sunscreens isn’t the same as trying other skincare products for fun. Trying different sunscreens felt like a chore for the longest time. Sometimes, I still dread it when I run out and have to purchase more.

There are a handful of sunscreens I can’t use because my body reacts to them. I either break out into hives or eczema or some unknown rash. (Really, once I went to the doctor’s office and she had no idea what had happened to a patch of my skin. Sigh.) I haven’t figured out the mix of ingredients that cause my skin to react, so it’s a work in progress.

What I can tell you is about this Supergoop! sunscreen. I’ve been using it since June and I like it. I don’t love it.

Here’s the thing: I like wearing it when I know I won’t be out in direct sunlight the full day. Why? Because by the end of the night, (after wearing and re-applying all day) the bend of my arms (inner elbow area) gets dry, itchy and irritated from wearing the sunscreen for so many hours.

*Note: I was in NY all summer so the humidity and my sweat may contribute to this. I haven’t had this issue too often when I’m in dry heat, so perhaps this happened because I was in humidity? I’m not positive.

Basically: I like wearing this sunscreen on my body for only several hours without having to re-apply when I’m not outdoors all day.

What I really like about it is the formula: It’s lightweight, not sticky and not smelly.

The price ($28 for 2.4 oz.) was OK, but I’m not too crazy about it.

I wouldn’t purchase this exact sunscreen again just because I really like trying new ones. But I would purchase a different one from the Supergoop! line again. I’ve liked their sunscreens so far, so I’d like to try them all eventually.

Thoughts? Recommendations?
