I got a sample of the I AM Organic body oil in the scent Enlightened (Eucalyptus and Cypress Cedar) and fell in love!
I discovered this brand at Indie Beauty Expo ’17 in NYC.
I met the founder, Sandy, and we chatted over eczema and skincare. After such a lovely exchange and smelling her products, I was eager to try them out. This was just one of the samples I snagged from her booth, and I don’t think I’ve used up a body oil quicker than I did this one!
The scent is herbal and soothing, but not too overpowering.
What I love most about this product is that you can layer it because it doesn’t go on too thick. It dries fully and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy.
I used it on my arms on a daily basis because it just made my skin feel so good. I tried to make this 1 oz. sample last as long as I could, which was difficult. Which is why I’m glad I got this 40% off discount from the event! 😉
If you’re still reading, I want to talk to you about eczema.
I got my first eczema flare when I was in high school. All of a sudden, a few pink, dry, itchy and scaly patches appeared on my neck and I had no idea what was happening to me. One doctor told me it looked like some sort of rash, but she wasn’t sure. Another told me it looked like eczema. Both prescribed topical rash medication.
I’m not sure if it truly is eczema, but I know it feels horrible.
The topical ointment helped, but I’d have flares time and time again. I can’t place it, but I think I got flares because it had to do with a mix of the change in weather and my stress levels. Then I thought maybe it had to do with what was in the air, the products I was using or clothing material I was wearing, or the type of detergent I was using.
I get those flares here and there, but it’s never constant or consistent. I can’t predict when one will happen or how long it will last or how bad it will be or why it happened in the first place.
I’ve read up on tips and tricks up the wazoo. So why am I telling you this? Because when I visited Sandy’s I AM Organic booth at IBE, I spoke to knowledgable ladies about her products, who shared her story with me. I’ve met others with eczema, and they’ve always been on different levels than me, whether it was severe or sporadic. I’m so glad to have met Sandy because it’s nice to know that someone’s out there creating natural products to help nourish skin.
Now, that doesn’t mean the topical ointment the doctors prescribed or the natural remedies I looked up didn’t help. I just like that there are more options, and natural options.
With that said, I didn’t have a flare when I was using this sample, so I can’t tell you if it would’ve helped with the pain.
I do know that this is what I’ll reach for the next time a flare comes up and I need some immediate relief.
If you have eczema or are into natural products, HMU! I’d love to chat more about it! If you want to hear more about mine, LMK!
& Thanks, Sandy! Please keep doing what you do. 🙂
